Whenever a politician makes a
move, people go into a frenzy trying to decode the real motive. Analysts try to
'read' the situation, foreign media manipulate the story, and people react
without full information. A politician has to tread carefully and escape these
political land mines. Present situation in Pakistan forced me to bring these
quotes to the readers.
- Politics is the art of the possible. Otto Von Bismarck
- In politics, an absurdity is not a handicap. Napoleon Bonaparte
- Politics is made up largely of irrelevancies. Dalton Camp
- A politician is a fellow who will lay down your life for his country. Texas Guinan
- Politics is war without bloodshed while war is politics with bloodshed. Mao Tse-Tung
- In order to become the master, the politician poses as the servant. Charles de Gaulle
- We hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to public office. Aesop
- The political machine triumphs because it is united minority acting against a divided majority. Will Durant
- Politicians are the same all over. They promise to build a bridge even where there is no river. Nikita Krushchev
- Politicians also have no leisure, because they are always aiming at something beyond political life itself, power and glory, or happiness. Aristotle
- Under democracy one party always devotes its chief energies to trying to prove that the other party is unfit to rule -- and both commonly succeed, and are right. H. L. Mencken
